Addictions

ADDICTIONS!

What is an addiction even?

According to Webster.com (my favorite dictionary EVER!) An addiction is:
to devote or surrender oneself to something habitual or obbsessive

OR
a compulsive need for and use of a habit-forming substance characterized by tolerance and well defined physicological symptoms upon withdrawl

I've always seen addictions in a very negative light. DRUGS, ALCHOHOL, SEX, GAMBLING, etc. all bad things if one was to become addicted them and harmful in the long run. However, I've also come to realize that addictions can also be positive things like RELIGION or EXCERSIE.

Like all things good, in order for an addicition to be beneficial it must occur in healthy amounts.

One of my favorite addictions is rubber ducks. Rubber Ducks?!?!?!?!? what in the world? Why would someone be addicted to rubber ducks? It starts at my freshman year when I became friends with CUPCAKE!!!! As a freshman at K-State I made what I consider to be one of the best choices of my life and applied and was accepted to live in Alpha of Clovia. A house which I define as all cooperative living, part scholarship with aspects of a sorority. Sara Elliott aka Cupcake was a junior in the house at the time and became a fast friend of mine. Being a freshman called for me making a lot of adjustments and Cupcake helped me with those. Cupcake has a LOT of rubber ducks and whenever I would go to her room and I would see them I would smile. If I was down going to her room, even on the rare occasion she wasn't in there, would make me smile. She and her awesome roomie Susie, always said that I could hang out or hide out in there whenever I needed to. That is when I began to really love rubber ducks and they became a good addiction of mine

Although I do have what I consider to be a good addiction I also have a really, really, really bad addiction. I drink wayyyyyy to much DR. PEPPER and MT. DEW. When I get really stressed it gets worse and I don't even want to begin to count how many cans I drank/how many sonic drinks I would have. I love Sonic!!!!! and I know what Sonic is good, which ones aren't, how to tell a good car hop, and when the best times to go are. Yes. It was a slight problem. there were days when I would have more than 100 oz of Dr. Pepper......ya kinda an issue. Dr. Pepper is my main addiction, but I would settle for Mt. Dew if I had too

However this summer I decided I needed a MAJOR CHANGE and have decided that as of June 1st I will no longer be able to drink Dr. Pepper for the summer. This is MAJOR in my life considering how much I intake on a daily basis during the school year. The hopes is that this will get me off it for good. FINGERS CROSSED.

Below next to the Mt. Dew Truck is myself and Tina in Holton. Those were my pre-dr. pepper days when Mt. Dew was my favorite (and Tina's favorite). Myself and Brynee and pictured drinking our favorite Dr. Pepper Drinks from sonic. hers of Vanilla Dr. Pepper with extra Vanilla and my Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper Easy Ice. And my big sis A-Mac's favorite is Dr. Pepper easy ice. And Katie's favorite is Vanilla Lime Coke with no ice. Ya I told you I went to Sonic to much.

This summer I will be located in Linn County, Kansas (two counties south of Johnson) with my headquarters being Mound City. I will be the Intern for Kansas Reasearch and Extension there.

I hope to replace my Dr. Pepper Addiction with healthier addicitions including religion and exercise. Also starting June 1st I plan on sending a letter every day of the summer (let me know if you want one!!!!)

Stay tuned for my adventures there and my progress on this whole no Dr. Pepper thing. So far since schools gotten out I've had one every other day or so.....

That's all for now!

Dr. Pepper Deprivation? What in the world kind of title is that for a blog?!?!?!
Well, it's a Jancey title.
Before I tell you why that is the name of my blog I should probably properly introduce myself I suppose... I'm not exactly sure the proper blogging etiquette, so I'm going to make it up as I go. Sounds like fun right!!!

First off. I BEAT TEEN PREGNANCY!!!! I am currently 20 and will be turning 21 this October.

I went to Ohio last summer with Bailey and Adrienne to see BreAnne. These girls have taught me how to live.
Secondly. I am a student at KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY. I am definitely proud to be a wildcat and bleed purple through and through. Why did I choose K-State you ask? Not only does it have an awesome Ag Program, is a premier land grant institution, but the DUH factor. My mom was a wildcat, my dad was a wildcat, my grandpa was a wildcat, my grandma was a wildcat and so on and so forth. My grandparents live in Manhattan as does my Great Grandma and so it is 100% my home. even more so than where I grew up.

\ Celebrating a wildcat victory with my big sis Alyson and another dedicated fan :)
My beautiful mom, 104 year old great grandma and myself :)

Thirdly. I am from Southeast Kansas and am a proud Neodesha Bluestreak. I graduated with a class of 60 kids and was super involved in everything (FFA, FCCLA, 4-H, etc...) I learned some of the most valuable things from the teachers, community members, and my peers there that Neodesha, although Manhattan may be more of my home, will always hold a very special place in my heart. Growing up there I have a lot to be thankful for.

One of my favorite trips I took in high school with my fellow officer team. I was one of five seniors so it was definately special.

Fourthly. I love Mexican food and Dr. Pepper. Those are honestly two of my greatest ridiculous loves in my life. Ernestoes in Parsons is my absolute FAVORITE restaurant ever. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I have with drawls when I'm in Manhattan. I'm really not kidding either.

Fifthly. My family and friends mean the world to me. Period.

Brynne and I :)

Sixthly. I love to sleep. However I don't sleep nearly enough. Therefore if you wonder by my room you will often find me napping. which is especially beautiful since my roomate is one of my best friends and she is the EXACT same in that regard.

My lovely roomie Bailey and I :)

Seventhly.I live in Alpha of Clovia. http://www.alphaofclovia.org/ It's a Scholarship house/cooperative living/4-H house. A conglomeration of things. It has provided SOOO much for me and I attribute my success in college directly to my choice to live there.

Gabby, Janae, myself and Ashley at a Clovia barn dance.
Janae and Ashley are my twins and Gabby makes there triplet.

Eightly. I'm random.

My friend BreAnne and I and her dairy cow she showed for the little American Royal last spring. It was sooo much fun working with our dariy cows together :)

Megan Torline, Amanda Spoo and myself at their formal.

I became friends with Spoo through AgAmbassadors and therfore became friends with Megan. These two ladies are some of the most wonderful women I know and have taught me so much. They help me let loose and be exactly who I am. They haven't been in my life as long as some other key players, but have definately become influential :)

Ms. Erica Iversen and I. She keeps me sane :)

That's all for know :) The story of the title will come later
